This week has had it's ups and downs.  Monday Brooke came back from her weekend away with Bubbie and Grandpop. Brooke visited with her cousins and had a blast, she visited a few museums,  hung out with her Cousins Evie and Ezra.
Evie was head over heals about Brooke and wanted to spend all her time with Brooke.

Tuesday started off very rough,  not 5 minutes from work my phone rings and I get this lovely news!

So I had to call in and turn around and go home.  The good news was I got to have lunch with Brooke and my mom and I was able to get Brooke into the allergist last minute.  The rest of the week was a wash and not much better.   I hit a wall in terms of  motivation to eat right and move more. Tovah seemed to be in pain and confused and by Friday, night she was not doing well.  She would be a puppy during the day and come night fall. She was in pain, hunched over and limping.

Saturday , Tovah had to go to the vet, her arthritis was really bad and she had been having a rough week. Also, historically, any time Brooke goes to the doctor at some point in the week Tovah has to go too.  She seems to be worse at night.  It's not easy being a 12 year old dog.
On a positive note-- Brooke and I got our hair "did"  she got her pink highlights refreshed and I got peek-a-boo highlights after 8 months of debating.  I hate making decisions. I really do. But, my hair dresser told me to just do it.

Last night was the annual Daddy Daughter Dance.  Aren't they adorable.

With today being Sunday, I decided to get back on track with eating better, tracking my food and making better choices.  I am hoping to win the weekend warrior fitbit challenge but if I don't that's o.k too, I am in 3rd place so it will take a miracle to get in first place.
Last but not least we have a weekend house guest Louie my MIL's dog.

How was your weekend? Any how's and lows?

This week I lost my healthy eating mojo. I stopped tracking and I cant seem to get back on track.  I feel like crap, I am moody and just overwhelmed.  I need to get back on track and do some meal prep to help myself.

I need a spa day!!!!

Yupp.... I am having a pitty party and trying not to cry. Sorry too many annoying things all happened before I had my coffee and 7a.m.....I didn't appreciate getting the call school was close till I was already at work and had to turn around. I "love" driving for an hour on ice roads .....then my office goes on a two hour delay. Great job sending the text at 6:58 when you have early start staff. I have a sore throat and was already crabby and Brooke still have hives so yet another day off spent at the pediatricians office.

I will allow myself to sulk for 1 hour than use this day for good. I will spend time with my amazing daughter.  I will bake banana bread  and clean up around the house. I will read my book and relax and  have a Starbucks date with my daughter.

Do you ever find yourself in a food rut..... making and eating the same handful of things over and over, than getting bored with it and throwing in the towel with healthy eating?  I find I usually do that but have spent the past few weeks trying really hard to make better, healthier, whole food choices.

This week I went to Trader Joes to stock up on some items for lunches. Here are this weeks amazing finds:
Trader Joes Sprouted 7 Wheat Bread- this stuff is amazing if you have not yet tried it.

Trader Jose's Chunky Spicy Guacamole.
a little bit of kick and so much flavor, I had it on the bread twice this week, I used it in place of Mayo in my egg salad.
Chunky Spicy Guacamole Auténtico
Balela Bean Salad

Weekend Plans
This weekend my baby girl is going away with her grandparents to visit her cousins.  SO I already have planned to get in as many steps as possible on my Fitbit. I plan on walking around the mall for an hour.  I am not a huge fan of mall walking but with the crazy weather we have had this week its the next best solution.    Also, I plan on doing some meal prep for the week and light house work.  My fridge is a disaster and could use a good deep cleaning.   Other than that  I just plan on having me time and relaxing with a good book or two.

What do you have planned for the weekend?
What is your favorite Trader Joe find?

It's been 2 days since I started the 30 day squat challenge and I only made it past Day 1. I am still so sore that it's almost embarrassing.  I wont let this discourage me. I am just going to keep trying. No one said that the 30 days had to be consecutive so I will try Day 2 soon.  Today's goal is to walk on the treadmill for 45 mins.  I would walk outside which I much prefer but it's pretty cold outside and the treadmill will do the trick, I need to build up my endurance for when I actually start to train for the half marathon on April.

I wanted to share some non scale victories (NSV) I had this week:

  • I passed up on Pizza 2x this week, which was HUGE for me. Pizza is my favorite food but I reminded myself that I rarely feel well after eating pizza and that ultimately it would not help me move closer to my goal of losing weight and making healthy choices.  Normally I would be so sad because I would feeling like i was missing out or depriving myself, I did not feel that way for once.
  • Friday someone brought in Krispy Kreme donuts to work. They were sitting in the kitchen in their box just asking to be looked at and loved, I caved and took one. I brought it to my desk and realized that I didn't really want it, but having it  at my desk made me feel better somehow.  Instead of the donut, I ate a half an Apple Pie Lara Bar that I had left at my desk and was just as happy had I  eaten the donut. I didn't feel deprived.
  • Also, on Friday we had Tim Hortons bagels in the office which are easy to say no to because in my book they are not really "bagels" just bread with a hole in them.

This week I plan on making healthy choices. moving more and drinking more water.
What NSV did you have this week. What are your goals for this week?

From Zero to 13.1 and GO!

I've been throwing around the idea of hosting a blog for a few years now. I could never think of a theme or what I wanted it to be about. I love reading life style blogs but didn't think I could write one, but today out of now where I had this huge calling or what not to start one.  So here it goes.  This will be a place to share anything and everything.

With turning 40 this year I decided to sign up with 2 co-workers for the Detroit Free Press International Half Marathon.  What in the world possessed me to do this??  Great Question!!! I am not sure, I just wanted to do it.  So, with needing to train for the marathon I thought why not also work on my horrible eating habits and really focus on a getting healthy.

So here I am sharing this journey with you my readers.  If you feel like my blog can help someone you know please feel free to share it with them.
